Vanessa Rampton was an ETH Fellow, a Branco Weiss Fellow, and a Senior Researcher at this Chair between 2015 and 2022. Since 2018 she also has been affiliated with McGill University, Montréal.
She is an intellectual historian with a particular interest in normative concepts (freedom, justice, progress, limits) and how these are adapted in concrete circumstances. Vanessa Rampton studied at the University of Geneva, University College London, and has a PhD from King’s College, University of Cambridge. In 2014 she was briefly affiliated with the University of Zurich’s Chair of Political Philosophy before joining the current Chair. In spring 2023 she will take up a research position in the context of an ERC-funded project on assisted dying with Professor Anna Elsner at the University of St Gallen.
